Bathing is proven to improve mood, reduce stress and produce the most dreamy Instagram photos. Here are five bath recipes to suit any mood or time of day.

While showing is the most common method of personal hygiene in North America, a recent Japanese study found both mental and physical benefits from bathing regularly.

The study divided 38 participants into two groups: a showering group and a bathing group. Each group only cleansed in using their method for two weeks. Researchers found the bathers had significantly reduced fatigue, stress, pain and better skin condition after just two weeks.

Immersion bathing, but not shower bathing, exerts hyperthermic action that induces increased blood flow and metabolic waste elimination, which may afford physical refreshment. Immersion bathing should improve both physical and emotional aspects of quality of life,” reads the study’s conclusion.

However, not all baths are made equal. We have pulled together five of our favourite bath recipes to suit your mood on any day.
