How frequently can I come in for salt therapy?2024-04-22T19:29:53-04:00

For best results, we recommend undergoing salt therapy three times a week until you see a significant improvement in your condition. Bi-weekly or monthly sessions are recommended to maintain your optimal wellness.

Why am I coughing during my HaloIR™ session?2024-04-22T19:28:03-04:00

During your HaloIR™ session, the salt particles may trigger coughing, but this is perfectly normal and indicates that the therapy is effectively working to cleanse your respiratory system. Salt therapy is an excellent practice for maintaining respiratory hygiene and helping to clear the lungs, enhancing your overall breathing comfort and health.

What is chromotherapy?2024-04-22T19:26:14-04:00

Chromotherapy, also known as colour therapy, uses coloured lights to stimulate various responses in the body for wellness. This feature is optional in your HaloIR™ session.

How do I prepare for my HaloIR™ session?2024-04-22T19:18:21-04:00

Preparing for your HaloIR™ session at Elegance Sculpting is easy and tailored to your specific health needs, whether you’re seeking relief from respiratory conditions or skin issues.

For Respiratory Conditions:

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water prior to your session to aid in detoxification.
  • Attire: You may keep your clothes on; only shoes need to be removed. Comfortable, breathable clothing is recommended.
  • During Your Session: Once you’re comfortably seated in the cabin, relax and breathe normally. Although normal breathing is fine, we encourage deep breathing for enhanced benefits. We offer guided breathing exercises and calm music to help you relax.

For Skin Conditions:

  • Hydration: It’s important to stay hydrated; please drink plenty of water before your session.
  • Attire and Privacy: Remove your shoes and feel free to expose any areas of your skin that you feel would benefit from direct salt therapy. Our cabins are private, allowing you the comfort to remove clothing as needed. Many clients opt for wearing just a bathing suit.
  • Post-Session Care: For maximum benefits, leave the salt on your skin as long as possible after the session.
What is halotherapy?2024-04-22T19:13:20-04:00

Halotherapy involves inhaling fine salt particles to promote respiratory health. In this therapy, a halogenerator processes high-grade pharmaceutical salt (99.99% pure sodium chloride) into tiny particles that fill the therapy space. Salt’s natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties make halotherapy effective in cleansing the respiratory system, loosening mucus, and reducing inflammation.

Often described as a detox for the lungs and airways, halotherapy offers relief from various conditions, including allergies, asthma, various types of bronchitis, sinus issues, COPD, sleep apnea, and more. It can also help with ear infections, laryngitis, tonsillitis, cystic fibrosis, hay fever, emphysema, pneumonia, and smoker’s cough.

Additionally, due to its anti-inflammatory benefits, halotherapy aids in treating skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, aging skin, acne, dermatitis, and dry or itchy skin.

What can I expect during my HaloIR™ session?2024-04-22T19:11:47-04:00

At Elegance Sculpting in Parksville, BC, we are excited to offer the Halo-IR sauna, a revolutionary two-person unit that blends the benefits of halotherapy with infrared sauna technology. Enhance your experience with medical-grade light therapy (chromotherapy), Bluetooth speakers for your choice of music or guided meditation, and aromatherapy. Customize each session to create a unique and personal wellness experience that addresses your specific health needs.

The HaloIR sauna session starts with 20 minutes of combined heated halotherapy and infrared heat up to 120°, followed by 25 minutes of infrared heating up to 140°. Both halotherapy and infrared sauna functionalities can be used separately, ensuring that each session is fully tailored to your preferences.

Is heated Halotherapy more effective than non-heated?2024-04-22T19:00:13-04:00

Yes, when the air is dry and warm, it will allow for deeper penetration and better absorbency of the salt particles in the bronchi. Halotherapy at low levels of heat enhances the experience and efficacy of Halotherapy.

What temperature is the HaloIR™ infrared sauna?2024-04-22T18:56:51-04:00

Infrared saunas detoxify and promote relaxation using infrared lamps, which use electromagnetic ration, to warm your body rather than the air. This allows for infrared saunas to operate at a lower temperature, between 110˚F and 125˚F, whereas traditional saunas using conventional heat use typically between 150˚F and 180˚F. This allows for the environment to be more comfortable for you so you can reap the benefits of a full session.

Shockwave therapy is quickly becoming the gold standard for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) and musculoskeletal pain (MSK) because of its many benefits. Along with having an excellent cost vs effectiveness ratio, this treatment is non-invasive and requires no anesthesia. New research and the growing popularity of shockwave therapy in orthopaedics, rehabilitation, and sport medicine, prove competitive athletes through to retired gold enthusiasts can find relief with this advanced treatment.

Is there any downtime associated with shockwave therapy?2022-12-14T16:49:57-05:00

After each of your shockwave therapy sessions, you can return to most regular activities immediately. Some temporary soreness or swelling may be experienced for the first couple days post-treatment, but this is expected as the shockwaves stimulate an inflammatory response to naturally heal the treatment area. Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication post-treatment as it can slow down the recovery process.

Who should not try shockwave therapy?2022-12-14T16:43:03-05:00

Those with circulation or nerve disorders; open wounds; pregnant or breastfeeding; deep vein thrombosis; infection; bone tumour or a metabolic bone condition; should not use shockwave therapy. How does shockwave therapy work?2022-12-14T16:36:42-05:00

Shockwave therapy actually uses sound waves to penetrate deeply into treatment area tendons to cause a mechanical irritation. This will cause your body to perceive the sensation as an injury and respond by sending growth factors to the treatment site, restore smooth muscle cells (restore tissue elasticity) and increase blood flow (Angiogenesis). This is an effective treatment for musculoskeletal pain (tennis elbow, etc.) and erectile dysfunction (ED). To learn more about the technology we use at Elegance Sculpting, click here.

Is shockwave therapy painful?2022-12-14T16:28:24-05:00

Despite its name, shockwave therapy does not use shocks, but actually uses sound waves. The treatment produces a mild sensation in the treatment area but is not described by clients as painful. At most, you may feel some tightness during your shockwave therapy session, but will experience immediate relief post-treatment.

How many shockwave therapy treatments will I need?2022-12-14T16:21:43-05:00

As a general rule of thumb, substantial results will be experienced after four to six treatments of shockwave therapy, one treatment per week. This, of course, will vary based on the individual.

After the first round of sessions, we will enter a waiting period of four to six weeks as the shockwaves will continue to take effect at a cellular level. After the wait period, we are able to reassess and determine if additional maintence treatments are required.

They will fall off on their own within three and 21 days, when the body has completed the healing process. Please note, treatment areas closer to the heart, heal faster. For instance, skin anomalies on the legs will take longer to heal. If the treated skin anomaly is on the face, cleanse the area gently using fingers and a mild facial cleanser. You may still wear makeup over the treatment area, but be gentle. Avoid any facials until the natural healing process has been completed. If the treatment area feels irritated or hot, apply a cold compress. Refrain from any strenuous physical activity, tanning beds, saunas, swimming pools or baths for 48 hours to ensure optimal healing. Apply a moisturizing heading cream four to five times a day. Post-treatment, clients are typically will see a circular red mark at the treatment site which will turn into a micro-crust. Once this micro-crust sheds (typically within three to 21 days, do not pick at it early), the skin will heal with little risk of scarring. This is a permeant treatment.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?2022-07-23T19:36:59-04:00

Luckily, the HELIOS IV 785™ is a lot more comfortable than traditional laser tattoo removal (some of you reading this may have even tried older technology and stopped because of the pain). With our technology at Elegance, the treatments (which can range from 20-40 minutes depending on the size of your tattoo) feel more comparable to the flick of an elastic band. Prior to beginning your treatment, a topical numbing agent can be applied to help reduce any discomfort. Some of our clients opt for this, and some are fine without—it is totally personal preference.

Is there any downtime associated with laser tattoo removal?2022-07-23T19:36:36-04:00

Yes! This is an advanced treatment that requires you follow the post-care instructions of your technician. During your consultation or first session, your laser technician will review all of the post-care instructions in detail—some of the instructions may cause you to alter your daily activity for two to three weeks after each session and one week before your next one, which booked after 6-8 weeks. This advanced treatment requires you to follow the instructions for best results and to avoid scarring and other negative side effects. As the process includes naturally scabbing, be mindful when you begin your treatment. For example, if you have a wedding coming up, give yourself at least a month prior to heal.

After each session, you’ll need to keep the area cool to reduce irruption. This could mean using a cold compress on the area for an hour or two post treatment, but also means staying out of the direct sun, hot tubs or saunas.

For the first 48 hours, you’ll need to keep the area completely dry. Warm showers are permitted after 48 hours as long as the area is gently washed with uncounted soap.

The natural process that your body goes through post-treatment will involve scabbing. We recommend utilizing aftercare ointment (coconut oil, vitamin E, etc.) to keep the area fully moisturized.

Direct sunlight of the treatment area should be avoided as much as possible throughout the entire process. The treated skin will be more sensitive to the sun’s powerful rays and exposure could lead to burning, sun damage or scarring. If direct sunlight cannot be avoided, be diligent with reapplying your SPF of 30 or greater every hour.

You’ll also want to stay hydrated throughout your entire laser tattoo removal treatment. Since the lymphatic system is essentially what drains out the broken up ink particulars, you’ll want it performing at its peak. Continue hydrating your body for at last one month after your final session—actually s

Yes! A touch-up session after 6-8 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment colour may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch-up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when I refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the colour for the whole year! Remember, Microblading can be a 2-3 step procedure depending on skin type.

Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid, work out a lot, have certain medical conditions etc. with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual’s colour retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 6-12 months. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. After the procedure, there may be some redness and slight swelling, this is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

How long does Microblading it take to heal?2020-10-26T17:55:20-04:00

The eyebrow area may be slightly red after the procedure and colour will appear very dark. This is a totally normal part of the healing process. The colour will fade and the brow will shrink by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microblade area. The eyebrows will lighten up in colour as it heals. No downtime is required after a microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the colour to fully set in. You’ll notice the colour is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True colour will reveal itself once healed.

Can I get my Microblading touch up session sooner than 4 weeks?2020-10-26T17:54:51-04:00

No!! Touch up sessions will not be performed any earlier than 4 weeks after the initial microblading session as pigment colour has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

Then an appropriate pigment will be chosen for the right skin type and tone. Once the client is satisfied with the brow design and pigment colour, The procedure can be started.

The client is to come in for a follow-up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 6-8 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.
