Not all laser hair removal technology is made equal. At Elegance in Parksville, BC we offer safe, effective laser hair removal treatments.
What is unsafe laser hair removal?
For the purposes of this article we are going to focus on the comparison of two types of hair removal technology: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Nd:YAG laser systems.
The older (and less safe) hair removal treatments that can still be found on the market today use IPL technology. The most advanced, safest technology on the market today for laser hair removal are Nd:YAG laser systems—which we use here at Elegance Sculpting in the form of the Elos Plus.
While IPL technology can be fantastic for some treatments such as skin resurfacing, it causes some concern in regards to hair removal for some clients. IPL technology targets dark pigment with intense pulsed light to destroy the hair follicle; however, when the hair follicle and skin pigment are close in colour, this technology is not the most accurate.
Not only is IPL hair removal less effective in stunting hair growth, it requires more sessions and is not safe for everyone. And here’s the kicker, if you are using IPL technology for hair removal, that’s technically not laser hair removal. IPL technology is not actually a laser. Crazy right?! Always ask your technician for the machine specifics prior to committing to a laser hair removal treatment plan/contact.
Parksville Safest Laser Hair Removal Technology
At Elegance Sculpting, we have invested in the leading technology on the market to ensure our laser hair removal treatments are safe for all clientele. Our Elos Plus laser hair removal technology is safe on skin tones and hair types (unlike the traditional technology we talked about above).
Our laser hair removal technology is made by Syneron Candela, industry leaders in aesthetic technology. Here are three key reasons the laser hair removal technology at Elegance Sculpting is safer than others in Parksville:
- The RadioFrequency (RF) used in our laser hair removal technology uses less optical energy to help reduce skin heating (because we’ve all heard those horror stories about burning skin!) and allow a deeper penetration (targeting and destroying hair follicles fast means fewer treatments).
- There is something called Active Dermal Monitoring (ADM) within our technology that immediately signals any skin impedance changes your technician needs to be aware of. This means, our technicians can always choose the right laser hair removal treatment plan for you.
- Our laser hair removal technology uses something called the Sapphire, a contact cooling system that provides better client comfort than other laser hair removal technology on the market.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
This is without a doubt the most common question asked by any new laser removal client of ours. Depending on who you talk to
If pain is a concern for you or stopping you from commiting to laser hair removal, our team of experts can offer you the tips and tricks you need to feel comfortable and confident going into your laser hair removal treatments. For example, if you are on your period or just about to be, perhaps push back your treatment a couple days. When it’s your time of the month, the skin can become extra sensitive and laser hair removal treatments can be more uncomfortable (this actually goes for waxing too!). With small tips like these from our experts at Elegance Sculpting, anyone can reach their goals with laser hair removal.
