Enjoy the benefits and relaxation that comes with a facial without leaving the house with these four simple face masks you can create from your kitchen.

The emphasis of self care has never been more pertinent than today. Here we will show you step by step how to have a quality spa-like facial right at home as well as four at-home, natural face masks.

Cleanse

As with any facial it’s imperative you start with clean skin. In order for your skin to receive the full impacts of this at-home facial, any dirt and oil must be removed.

When massaging the cleanser into your skin start at the chin and work upward in circular motions. When rinsing use warm water and a clean towel to pat to dry.

Exfoliate

You can use your favourite exfoliator or create your own natural paste using coffee grounds or baking soda. Gently make sweeping motions using just two fingers. The key is be gentle just removing the dead skin cells but not damaging the new layers.

Stream

This is one of our favourite steps to do but it can be a bit tricky at home. Bring a pot of water to boil on the stove (adding whatever essentials oils you desire) before bringing it down to a simmer. Hold your face approximately 10 inches above the pot draping a large towel over your head and shoulders. Yes, this is just as comfortable as it sounds. Another option is to take a shower at this step in your facial, letting the shower stream open your pores for the next step.

Mask

With your skin clean, free of dull skin cells and pores open, it’s time to use your favourite at-home face mask. We love trying products from our Payot Paris skin care line or creating our own. Here are four natural, at-home face masks recipes you can make from what you already have:

Avocado Healing Mask

The combination of these ingredients increases healing and tissue regeneration without making the skin oily. Apply generously over the entire face and let sit for 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  •  ¼ cup of oat bran

Turmeric Blemish Buster

This is a two in one face mask that can be used full face or as a pimple spot treatment. We love making this  face mask during breakouts. Turmeric is also known to help reduce the appearance of acne scarring. Apply the thick mask for 5-10 minutes or as a spot treatment overnight.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice

Cooling Cucumber Facial

If you are experiencing rough or irritated skin, this cooling cucumber mask is for you. The cucumber helps reduce redness and smells just like the spa. With the added brown sugar, this face mask gently exfoliates to leave the skin soft and calm. Take your time thickly applying the mask all over your face then leave for 15 minutes.

  • 1/2 cucumber, pureed in a food processor
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Lemon Skin Energizer

When you and your skin feels tired, try the lemon skin energizer mask. The sugar and lemon exfoliate while the olive oil restores your skin back to a fresh, dewy state. Apply generously over the face and leave for 10 minutes.

  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

To finish up your at-home facial, use your favourite toner and moisturizer. We hope these face mask recipes help you feel the peacefulness of the spa right at home.
