As the seasons change, so should your skincare routine. Every season has its advantages and disadvantages in regards to how your skin will react. However, if we learn how to work with the weather, we can make the transition (and your skin) a whole lot smoother.
Summer Skin VS Fall Skin
Despite how deligent we are with SPF over the summer, sun damage happens. Fall is the perfect time to reintroduce at-home retinol use and IPL therapy for sun spots. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy also known as photofacials can treat a variety of skin concerns such as: acne, sun damage, stretch marks, birthmarks, wrinkles, rosacea and loose skin.
For a limited time only (October 2020), claim a series of 3 IPL photofacials for just $450 (regularly $225 each). Contact our team today for more information.
Five Ways Your Skin Care Should Change This Fall
- Change Your Cleanser
Summer sweating and activity means you’ve probably been using a clarifying cleanser to manage excess oil buildup. During fall and winter hibernation, you may find this cleanser too harsh. Opt for a gentler approach with a cleansing balm or cleansing milk. Payot Paris’ Crème n°2 Eau Lactée Micellaire is one of our favourites and can be found right here at Elegance Sculpting.
- Exfoliate More Regularly
The colder months can be dull—so can your skin! It is important to rid your skin of dry, dead skin cells before applying lotion or oils to ensure your skin receives the full benefits.
- Switch To A Richer Moisturizer
In the fall and winter months, your skin can handle a heavier moisturizer than you use in the summer. We tend to use moisturizers with lighter bases (such as oil) during the active, summer months to avoid clogged pores. In the fall, switching cream based moisturizers can help us offset the dry air and avoid flaky skin.
- Hydrating Masks & Treatments
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate—and then let’s hydrate some more. During the cooler months, our skin is exposed to drier air which can lead to excess oil production and breakouts. Hydrated skin can be achieved with both internal and external methods. Try increasing your daily water intake and adding a serum to your skincare routine (our team can help you determine which is right for your skin type).
- Don’t Freak Out Over Breakouts
The change in humidity and weather can cause our skin to become upset and react differently. Stick with your new routine for at least two weeks before making adjustments. The Elegance team is here to guide you towards the right products and treatments for your skin type.
