Dry Skin
Dry skin requires moisture, moisture and, oh yes, more moisture. Skin that is constantly tight and dry suffers from a lack of water and lipids, essential fat molecules that form a natural barrier on top of skin that holds in moisture and blocks impurities. Unlike combination or oily skin, dry skin types have a lipid imbalance. The hydrolipid film that protects the skin is too thin, therefore the epidermis is exposed and skin becomes vulnerable to external aggressors such as dirt, wind, and other environmental pollutants. In order to restore this balance, dry skin types need a specialized skincare regime that controls water and lipid loss, for a more healthy and balanced complexion.
We recommend:
Cleanser – Mousse Micellaire Nettoyante
Exfoliator – Gommage Intense Fraicheur
Daily Moisturizer – Hydra 24+ Creme Glacee
Hydrating Treatment – Nutricia Creme Confort
Oily/Combination Skin
Both oily and combination skins are often combined as “combination to oily”, as the two usually go hand in hand. An oily skin type is simple to remember: it produces an excess of oil. Combination skin is a bit more complicated, as different areas of the face contain characteristics of both oily and dry skin. Although it is the most common skin type, combination skin can be hard to identify and treat.
They are both similar in that they naturally overproduce sebum (oil), which forms in the hair follicle under the skin. However, they differ in the location in which the overproduction occurs; for oily skin types it happens all over, for combination skins it is only visible through the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). No matter where this increase in sebum takes place, the pores adjacent will expand in size allowing for blockages that can turn into pimples, blackheads, and other blemishes. Oily and combination skin types are more acne prone because of this. When either skin type is choosing a skincare routine they must be mindful of this and choose products carefully. Anything containing harsh irritants, or an excess of unnecessary oils will either dry skin out (making skin produce more oil) or provide too much hydration (creating an oversaturated surface).
We recommend:
Cleanser – Gel Demaquillant D’Tox
Exfoliator – Gelee Gommante Douceur
Daily Moisturizer – Creme Matifiante Velours
Detoxifying Mask – Masque D’Tox
Normal Skin
If you don’t have any noticeable dryness, oiliness or many skin issues at large, chances are you have a normal skin type. Lucky you! In this case there is no overproduction of sebum or an imbalance of water and lipids throughout the surface of the skin. Although normal skin types may experience dehydration, sensitivity or other skin conditions, their complexion usually appears naturally smooth and radiant. A normal skin skincare regime is therefore less strict and usually requires less maintenance than other skin types. However, a consistent routine should be in place to ensure skin stays clean, smooth and balanced.
We recommend:
Cleanser – Mousse Clarte
Exfoliator – Gelee Gommante Douceur
Daily Moisturizer – My Payot Jour
Elixir Treatment – Elixir Ideal
