Do you know what to look for when searching for skincare? Or are you grouping a variety of creams, serums and cleansers together, just hoping the combination will work? The time has come to take a different approach.
At Elegance Sculpting, we combine expert skin advice with clinically proven products from the luxury skincare brand Payot Paris, to take the guesswork out of achieving optimally healthy skin. No matter your skin type here our three skincare steps you should be following daily.
1) Cleanse
Every skincare routine (whether performed in the morning or at night) should start with a cleanser. Deeply cleansing the skin will provide a clean surface allowing other treatments to be more effective. Rinsing with water is not enough to clean your face of sweat, dirt, oil and makeup. Cleansing in the evening should differ slightly from cleansing in the morning. At the end of the day, our faces have been in contact with more pollution and skin aggressors than if we had just woken up. A double cleanse before bed with a gentle product can ensure makeup, pollution and your SPF is removed during the first cleanse and pores are unclogged during the second.

Second Cleanse (for use morning and night) – Mousse Micellaire Nettoyante
2) Exfoliate
A step that is often forgotten, but extremely important to achieving healthy skin, is exfoliation. Each month we experience skin renewal, which is when new skin cells formed in the dermis rise to the epidermis (the top layer of skin). The cells previously sitting on the epidermis now become dead skin cells and periodically shed. However, they often sit on the skin for long periods of time and can cause breakouts and skin irritation. In order to reveal the new, healthier skin cells hiding underneath an exfoliator must be used to clear the buildup of dead cells. Daily exfoliation may be too harsh for all skin types, which is why it is recommended starting with this step only once or twice a week. Exfoliators come in two main types of formulas: a scrub (for a physical exfoliation), or a liquid or gel (for a chemical exfoliation). Chemical exfoliations are usually preferred, as they are not as physically abrasive as scrubs and work to deeply cleanse pores; however, each have their pros and cons. As long as some sort of exfoliant is used continually, skin will look more radiant, smoother and younger.

3) Moisturize
The final step to your essential skincare routine is moisturize. No matter your skin type or texture, a moisturizer must be applied to the skin at the end of any routine, both morning and night. As you would have just washed and exfoliated your skin, it now needs to be hydrated and plumped back up with moisturizing ingredients such as Vitamin A and Vitamin B5. Not only will skin look more healthy and feel more comfortable, it will also help protect the skin from the effects of pollution and irritants. Moisturizers come in a variety of different formulations and textures to suit every skin type. For example, drier skins would use a richer, creamier moisturizer loaded with hydrating ingredients to keep their skin from feeling tight throughout the day. Where as someone with oily or combination skin may opt for something more lightweight, like a gel, one that will help control oil production and prevent them from looking too greasy. Moisturizers can also help target specific skin issues you are looking to reverse, such as signs of aging, unwanted pigmentation, or breakouts and acne. No matter the formulation, this final step is essential in any skincare regime to replenish your skin each morning and night with much needed moisture.
